Rachel Marie Smith-Steinert , CRNA

Rachel Smith-Steinert is the Nurse Anesthesia Assistant Program Director of Clinical Services for the University of Cincinnati. She is responsible for all clinical affairs for 81 students. She also chairs and serves on the committee of numerous BSN to DNP projects as well as MSN to DNP projects at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. As the CRNA Education Integration Lead for the Department of Anesthesia at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Rachel oversees the clinical teaching of 80 CRNA faculty members, as well as 18 clinical coordinators at 16 different clinical sites. Rachel is also responsible for clinical compliance standards set by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. Rachel has taught the Anesthesia Machine and Equipment course since 2009. She is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with exceptional clinical experience and didactic skills. She is comfortable in fast-paced trauma situations and adept in crisis management. She is successful in managing critically ill patients as well as chronic health conditions under anesthesia and is skilled in anesthetic management of adult populations with a strong emphasis on preoperative assessment and post-operative evaluations. Her doctoral education prepared her for program development, implementation, and evaluation experience. Rachel has also worked on numerous quality improvement projects to better the academic health system. Her academic interest lie in quality improvement, the anesthesia machine and equipement, and global health.
