Professional Summary

Research in Dr. Soleimani's laboratory has resulted in the identification of several novels genes that are involved in tissue damage in kidney ischemia. In addition he has identified the major bicarbonate transporter in the duodenum, the first mammalian bicarbonate absorbing transporter in the kidney, as well as 4 other bicarbonate transporters in gastric epithelial cells and kidney tubules.
