Professional Summary

Personal Statement
I was doing my best to get through the long study hours of medical school; however, Category 5 Hurricane Maria had other plans. This natural disaster slammed into the island at 180 miles per hour, devastating the country and permanently closing down my medical school campus. Suddenly, I was stuck in the middle of the Caribbean with no provisions, electricity, or cell service. Together with my classmates, I rationed food and water, secured the school, and waited for help. After the 9 longest days of my life, the US military and private boats came to our rescue. As I sailed away with a few dozen of my peers, I looked back on the island for the last time. I was humbled, learning to be grateful for life, food, water, and safety. I appreciated how teamwork can be lifesaving, and I understood that no matter what it would take, I was determined to complete my journey of becoming a physician.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
After graduating medical school, I pursued a research year at UC, and during this time, I attended weekly academic half days. For an entire year, I got to experience Dr. Warm’s passion for medical education and the emphasis UC places on learning. The residents and the attendings were incredible and made me feel welcomed and supported. I am so grateful to train at such an innovative program alongside very kind people!
