Professional Summary

Personal Statement
My interest in evidence-based medicine and landmark clinical trials in internal medicine led me to the National Institutes of Health to spend a year conducting research at the intersection of Infectious Diseases and Critical Care Medicine under the mentorship of Daniel Chertow, MD, MPH.  During my research year, I developed a passion for analyzing scientific literature, and incorporating discoveries into patient care. It was also at the NIH where I knew that I wanted to pursue a specialty that focused on the immune system and would give me an opportunity to be involved in patient care and clinical trials. I am currently interested in pursuing a career in Rheumatology and wish to practice as a VA physician.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I moved from my hometown of Louisville, KY to Cincinnati, OH when I started medical school and I quickly fell in love with the city. During my time as a medical student, I got to experience firsthand the amazing faculty members in the internal medicine department. These were the attendings and residents that truly cared about both my education and wellness. UC IM’s department’s focus on medical education allows me to be confident in my ability to succeed here as a resident. The long-block curriculum and time at the VA were both exciting opportunities that I learned about when interviewing at UC. It was these factors, in addition to my beloved community at my church in Cincinnati and the ability for my wife to be near family, that allowed me to be confident in choosing the University of Cincinnati IM residency program as my top choice!
