Professional Summary

I am a doctoral student in the Educational Studies program with a concentration in Curriculum Instruction, advised by Dr. Anna DeJarnette. I completed my Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in Secondary Mathematics at The College of The Bahamas (now The University of The Bahamas) and have been teaching since 2010. In 2013, I completed my Master of Arts in Education degree from Northern Kentucky University where I was able to focus specifically on math assessment, diagnostics, and intervention. Currently I teach Math 8 and Algebra 1 at Beechwood High School, Fort Mitchell, KY, and serve as the National Honor Society sponsor, National Junior Honor Society sponsor, and teacher representative on the School-Based Decision Making Council.  My research interests include challenge-based learning (CBL) in the mathematics classroom. Specifically, how can CBL and other non-traditional instruction and learning affect student engagement, classroom discourse, and content mastery.
