Research and Practice Interests

Dr. Tong’s research specialties are focused on environmental geography; biogeography; as well as urban ecology, forestry and hydrology. Her research interests span from heavy metal contamination; ecological risk assessment; watershed management; hydrologic and water quality modeling; land use modeling; and population projection to impacts of global changes on water infrastructure. Currently, she is undertaking a few funded research projects, including the study of the impacts of global changes on water resources and the modeling of harmful algae bloom under future climate and land management changes.
