Professional Summary

Personal Statement
I am passionate about mentorship and patient advocacy. I am aware that I may be the first from my community to do many things, but it is important not to be the last. Whether it be giving talks about my journey to medicine, advocating for healthcare policy change at the Kentucky legislature, or volunteering at a community clinic, I am dedicated to providing access to quality, equitable healthcare. With a pandemic affecting our lives, particularly the lives of historically disadvantaged communities, I am aware of the systematic nature of our health disparities and I am eager to work to assuage them. I am devoted to practicing medicine in a pragmatic and just way.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose Cincinnati for a myriad of reasons. I was impressed by the dedication to data-driven, patient-centered healthcare. I believe residency is about growth and I love the dedication to growth mindset within this program. A major professional interest of mine is trauma-informed healthcare. There are so many things that make receiving healthcare difficult for our patients. I think we are doing a major disservice to our patients when we attribute all of that to non-adherence. UC Internal Medicine is dedicated to innovation in medical education, and I believe this program will afford me the opportunities and mentorship to allow me to work towards developing a new trauma-informed curriculum for medical students and residents. With all these strengths, UC was an obvious fit for me and I am excited to further develop my skills and serve my patients.
