Donald Isaac Wagner

Professional Summary

Dr Wagner is the Professor of Health Promotion and Director of the Center for Prevention Studies at the University of Cincinnati. He is the former Director of the Ohio Prevention and Education Resource Center (OPERC), a statewide training, technical assistance and educational materials clearinghouse. Also, he was the founding Director of the Preventive Care Learning Center at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he held a joint academic appointment in Family Medicine. Recently, Dr. Wagner received a distinguished alumni award from Indiana University and the Ohio Society of Public Health Education Contributions to Health Education Award. In addition, Dr. Wagner is a former Kellogg/ Partners of the Americas Fellow in International Development and he is the past Chair of the International Board of Directors of Partners of the Americas, a Washington, DC based international development organization. He was named the Senior Adviser for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention to the Brazilian Ministry of Health in 1990. Also, he has served as a consultant on health promotion for the World Bank. His work in stress management, child health, youth development and international development have been the focus of more than 100 presentations before national and international professional societies. His special interests are in the areas of stress management, youth development, family based prevention, social marketing and drug education. In this context, he has served as a consultant to a variety of health programs in schools, governmental health units, hospitals, managed care systems and occupational health settings.
