Research and Practice Interests
At the Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Orthopedics Department I was a research assistant. During this research experience I was able to work on two projects. The first involved using computer measurement software to review and compile retrospective data concerning the growth of the calcaneous. The second involved harvesting knee joints from pigs and using fluoroscopy to place femoral tunnels used in ACL reconstruction. I started these projects in my first year of medical school part time and worked 40 hr/wk over the first summer of medical school.
A research experience at Northern Kentucky University, Neuroscience, involved taking care of rodents that were used for experiments. Throughout this experience I was able to learn immunohistical staining techniques, tissue preparation, and cell culture techniques. I was able to work on two projects during my time with this lab as well as help other students on their projects that involved diseases of the nervous system.
