Fernanda Wilmes is an Early Childhood Teacher Education Specialist in the full-day program at the Arlitt Child and Family Research and Education Center. She is a native of Brazil and has been in this country for 18 years. Her interest in Early Childhood Education started 16 years ago when she tutored literacy to first and second grade students in New York City. She then started substitute teaching before finally entering the classroom as a full time teacher in 1996. Fernanda holds a BA from City College of New York and is currently working towards her master's degree. Mrs. Wilmes is also a mother, a community activist, a dancer, a clown, and practices martial arts.
