Professional Summary

Dr. Wilson is a Professor Emeritus of Counseling in the Division of Human Services who retired with 35 years of service. His teaching and research interests include ecologically grounded mental health counseling, group work, and the clinical training of counselors. He is professionally active, having served as President and Treasurer of the Association for Assessment in Counseling, as Vice Chair of CACREP, the accreditation body for counseling programs, as a member of the governing board of the American Counseling Association, and as a member of the editorial board for several professional journals. Recently, he was appointed to the governing board for the Ohio Mental Health Counselors Association. He was a member of the Multidisciplinary Training Consortium, a multi-university, multidisciplinary team which is engaged in training, research, and practice in the treatment of serious mental illness among underserved populations. He has been honored by being elected a Fellow of the American Counseling Association, a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work, and Ohio's Counselor of the Year. As a licensed clinical mental health counselor with authority to supervise counseling trainees, he consults, provides mental health counseling services, and supervises student trainees at a local health clinic for homeless, indigent, and low-income persons with chronic and serious mental illness. He is also a member of the American Red Cross Mental Health Team.
